Parotta
Onion Parotta
1.Wheat flour – 1 cup
2.Finely chopped onion – ¾ cup
3.Finely chopped green chili – 2 pieces
4.Salt to taste
5.Garam masala – ½ tsp
6.Coriander powder/ dhania powder – 1 tsp
7.Cumin seeds/ jeera – 1 tsp
8.Turmeric powder/ haldi – ¼ tsp
9.Chopped coriander leaves – 4 tsp
10.Oil – 4 tsp.
1.Heat 2 tsp of oil in a pan.
2.Add cumin seeds in it. Let them crackle.
3.Now add chopped onion. Saute until they become light brown.
4.Now add salt, green chili, garam masala, coriander powder, turmeric powder and mix well. Fry for 1 min.
5.Now add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well and switch off the stove.
6.Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes.
7.Now take a deep bowl. Add wheat flour in it.
8.Also add onion mixture, 1 tsp of oil.
9.Knead dough by adding water step by step. The dough has to be like chapati dough.
10.Now apply 1 tsp of oil on the dough surface.
11.Cover it with a clean muslin cloth and let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
12.Now divide the dough in 6 equal parts. Make a round ball of each part.
13.Take one ball and roll it in the dry wheat flour.
14.On a rolling board roll the ball in a circle of 6-7 inch diameter with the help of a rolling pin.
15.Now heat a tava. Put the rolled Parotta on the tava. Keep the flame to medium. When tiny bubbles start to appear flip the Parotta. Apply oil on the above side.
16.Flip the Parotta to other side and apply oil. Press the Parotta with the help of a spatula.
17.Now cook the Parotta until it becomes golden brown.
18.Repeat the same process with the remaining balls.
19.Onion Parotta is ready.
